Fundraising Towards A Future

I am a VERY ambitious person. My ambitions range from simple and peaceful things... to great and lofty things. I've touched on it a bit in one of my first posts, what it is that I intend to accomplish with this side project(s) of mine. I guess I'll start filling you in a little bit more on where I'm at with things and where I'm trying to go...
The house I live in, is a rental. It has served us well enough these past 10 years as we reestablished our lives back home in Pennsylvania, but we have rapidly been outgrowing it. It has not been serving my needs, in that it is small, we have no room, I don't have space to create or breathe, it's in town and I feel trapped. Part of the trouble is... with two kids and a family who enjoys buying them things, and a mom (me) who has a tendency to hang onto things because I can find a creative thing to do with it later... our small house... get's smaller and smaller the more you pack into it. We've had yard sales and my folks have brought stuff over for it, and what ever doesn't sell, magically all gets packed into totes and moved to my garage.
Recently I have gone through all the totes, got rid of a bunch of things and arranged what is left into lots. A friend of mine, is just starting up her own side business to do online auctions. It could not have happened with better timing. I am so pumped to have help on not only weeding things out but making a little bit of well needed money in the proccess. Plus, it's helping her new business grow and that's just as awesome and exciting! Search for her on Facebook via: Crazy Yard Sale Lady Auctions, or simply follow this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/786453365640699
My Auction items will be labeled with a tag that reads: "Layney Lethal Fundraiser Auction Item." Check out all of her awesome listings, but know if you bid towards one of the Layney Lethal items, it will be going towards this side project. I have also worked it out with my friend, that if people were so inclined to, they can donate their unwanted items towards the project. So maybe you don't need anything, but you did have something you were going to drop off somewhere and decide you would like it to contribute to my side project. Here's a easy way you can do it. Message my friend on Facebook, Linda Jeffrey Hurd: https://www.facebook.com/lindasjeffery and make sure you specify to her that it is a donation to Layney Lethal, so she knows where to apply the item/sale to.
So I am raising money for my project, but what is this money going towards?
Thank you, I'm glad you asked.
What I am looking to do is get out of town and build a house from scratch. It's more of a work shop, with a loft apartment over top... to be more specific. I want to take you on the journey with me though. This is where I finally start vlogging. My dad rebuilt most of my childhood home, growing up, he built my grandparents a garage and an addition to their new house. I was always his helper. I've helped with framing, insulating, wiring, sheet rocking, mudding, sanding, priming/painting, roofing, siding, and I've watched him plumb... but he's no plumber (don't tell him I told you that). I've never run the show though. I have a basic knowledge and ability. So, I'm sure I'll mess up, it's in my nature to learn everything the hard way. So, while I will get the job done, I'm sure it will be entertaining to watch.
Once I have the space to create, I will start working on how to and craft projects. I plan to do a lot of furniture refurbishing, get a pottery studio going, and all kinds of painting and crazy art projects. This will also give me a decent space to shoot cooking/baking videos in too. But mostly, I want to start homesteading. I want to build a little hobby farm and be self sufficient and take you with me on that excitingly fun and potentially problematic ride.
I make okay money right now, but it's a struggle to bank it away. It takes time. So, I'm hoping to put in a little extra work on the side and bank away a little extra money, so I can start putting the wheels of progress in motion. I am not the type of person to ask for help. I can do it and I will. With this auction site, it takes the weight off my shoulders a bit and let's me focus more on the tasks at hand. I get overwhelmed and the clutter makes me depressed and drains me. So, this was a great option to delegate the work a bit, clear up my space, and give me breathing room to get things going here in the meantime. My garage is now cleared out so I can use my gym. So all the stuff is getting cleared out (win) and now I will have a little extra money flowing in from it too (win), to set aside for each goal (win/win). And you're more than welcome to contribute to it, but don't feel like you need to. I'm just as happy to just have you come along with me on the journey.
The land I am looking to build on, is secured. There is neighboring land I might attempt to purchase down the road, but for now... the building site is secured. Next step, is well drilling ($6k) and putting in a septic system ($15k). So, I'm setting a goal of putting away $21,000 to accomplish step 1 of Project Falcon. That's what I'm calling it. Because, I'm going to soar! (Corny, I know. Just go with it...)
I am trying to over estimate in case of issues, but hopefully all will go well and I will have carry over $ for step 2 of Project Falcon, where I build the actual house. It's a lot. The cost of lumber has gone up... but people do this everyday... so, why not me? I have the drive and determination to accomplish anything I set my mind to. And now I'm putting it out there to the world. There is no turning back now. Project Falcon is officially under way.
I am starting to get my paranormal investigations off the ground too, so maybe I can pull in some extra money there. I am freeing up space in the garage so, I may be able to start taking some furniture pieces and flipping them for a profit too. That and tucking some extra money away on the side from my 9-5 just might get me there, but I'm also up for any suggestions. Any cool fundraising idea's? I don't want it to ever feel like a money grab. I want it to be something small that will actually help people out, rather than just taking from them. I thought about like a recycling or scrap metal type donation thing. I've heard about it being done before, but I have no idea on locations that do that. What do you think?
Always up for suggestions. Let me know!
Thanks for the support!
I can't wait to see the heights we reach!
